Long version: founding five tech companies and working with hundreds of other tech entrepreneurs in the past 23 years has taught me one key lesson: In 9 out of 10 cases, actual developments deviate significantly from initial plans. In two-thirds of these entrepreneurial journeys, things even worsen in one moment to the brink of a complete failure.
Pivoting – changing direction of the business fundamentally – is a regular necessity in tech ventures. But it’s also very tough and stressful for founders, boards, and investors. I’ve experienced this firsthand repeatedly, both professionally and personally.
Over time, though, I came to a different conclusion: a pivot is a tech venures’ unique opportunity to get rid of what is not working, and to realize an unfair strategic advantage. Pivotal phases often reveal formerly not visible, unexpected opportunities to create a truly sustainable and aligned setup for a company and its people. Sometimes, these shifts lead to outcomes far greater than initially envisioned.

Therefore I decided to make effective pivoting my mission. Today, people rely on me to pivot faster and better. I support them to transform their post-hype business model into a sustainable setup – with or without strategic investors. And I assist them in finding a prosperous future for their company, for their stake- and shareholders, and foremost also: for themselves.
